One may feel disturbed to think that losing a loved one is inevitable in our life journey but that is not the case as every human can lose a loved one at any point in life. One the long run, what then can we regard as losing a loved one? Loss of a loved one simply denotes a situation whereby one loses someone as a result of death, breakup, or other things that may cause emotional suffering, shock, profound sadness, or weeping. It is pertinent to note that our loved ones could be our family members, spouse, close friends, etc. that we cherish so much. In most situations, losing a loved one is not so easy to go about as the moment, time travels, special occasions and lovely moments spent together keep popping up in one’s mind and it lingers over and over again. This feeling breaks down the mind making it hard to get over the person in question. The effect of losing a loved one is nothing compared to having the person's thought coming to you as one sit to think through how it affects you personally.

These effects include;

Depression

Depression is a serious but common condition. Losing a loved one can trigger depression to a large extent as different thoughts come up over and over again. It also stops you from concentration, enjoying the activities that you enjoy before.

Sleeplessness

You find it difficult to sleep and this affects one’s ability to continue the daily routine. The loss of a loved one is an incredibly stressful, life-changing experience as most individuals do not get enough sleep. Having said that, quality sleep helps to reshape the body but due to lack of good sleep, the entire organ may not function properly.

Loneliness

Loneliness can mean different things depending on one’s situation and the effect is always a negative one on the individual that lost a loved one. Here, the frequent thought that comes with loneliness sets in and paves the way to a variety of mental downtrodden and health conditions that are not favorable to one’s mental health. Problems associated with loneliness include; low self-esteem, anxiety, sadness, and others. With the different effects mentioned above, people tend to want to deal with the loss of a loved one alone but this does not solve the problem.

Meditation

Speaking of meditation, it is difficult to meditate while you grieve your loss but allowing yourself to meditate and feel the sensation of your thoughts can make you feel alive and present. It helps you bask in your thoughts and forget your fears and grief. As you try to meditate, remember to find a suitable body position that suits you and let your thought flow as you breathe in and out softly while your eyes are closed. In all, it makes you feel better and stronger.

Seek help

As you try to get over the loss of a loved one, seek help and discuss with friends that can help you through this period. You can also conquer grieve on your own but with the help of those that care about you will prove to be a great advantage. Individually, seeking help pave the way for opportunities that will aid your recovery as you push in to get over your loss.

Be gentle and patient

While you try to get over your loss, be gentle and patient with yourself and treat yourself with care so you don’t get tired of being able to get over the loss.
